A rare lamp from Australia's free settler history. This 'Candle Lanthorne' was made available to free settlers for their sea voyage to Australia where compartment lighting was very dim. The brass label on the lamp is inscribed: 'Price Patent Candle Company Ltd, Government Emigrant Ship Lanthorne No 3610, Registered July, 1854.'
