'Enterprise' paperweight with remains of attached note 'African Oak, (Piec)e of (the) stern Post, (shi)p 'Enterprise' First (shi)p up River Yarra, 183(5), (seven)ty years under water (Lady) Bay, Warrnambool'. A stunning Australian silver trophy cup & cover 'U.F.B.D (United Fire Brigades' Demonstration) Sandhurst 1883, Hose Practice....'. Engraved with ferns & leaves with a detailed cartouche depicting fireman at work. Lid adorned with figural fireman finial. This trophy was the premier event of the 4 day carnival (March 14th to 17th, 1883) held at Sandhurst Bendigo & was won by the Carlton Brewery Brigade with Ballarat City & Ballarat East coming 2nd & 3rd. On the day the cups value was 25 pounds.
