Description:
A collection of 67 unmounted photographs documenting the service of Ollie candy. Candy served with the Manawatu mounted Rifles and the beach batteryin New Zealand until about 1943 when he embarked as part of the 19 Armoured Regt. And the 27th Bn. He served in Italy and he was wounded in action. He later served as part of J Force in Japan, the photos vary in size and show his service in NZ, Italy and Japan, they are almost entirely annotated verso. Images include Fielding, Fort Dorset (Wellington), El Alamein (although it is unsure if candy served in north Africa), Florence, F'nza, the New Zealand Barracks at Yamaguchi and the devastation at Hiroshima. Candy was present at the well known 'Killing of the pig Incident' at Florence and his photos of this is included
