Diego Lamaro, (1879-1953), Australian cedar armchair, with elaborately carved back with eagled two angels supporting a ribbon banner 'Riposo rest her' centred on a heart, the arms carved with lions and birds above a frieze carved with deer and wolves on ring turned legs and porcelain castors. Diego Lamaro studied woodcarving in Rome before coming to Australia around 1900. His furniture typically mixes kangaroo and emu with traditional European motifs
