The diary includes day to day accounts of trench and service life but also some very graphic, important and previously unpublished accounts of engagements with the Germans. *** A Historically Important Gallipoli Diary of New Zealand Stretcher Bearer, Private Alex Forbes Thompson, Canterbury Infantry Regt, who was twice decorated. The diary is in a small Church Missionary Pocket Book for 1915 and covers the period of 1915 containing some historic and exceptional entries and represents a unique opportunity to publish. Thomson was a devout Christian and joined the Canterbury Infantry Regt. as a Stretcher Bearer and embarked with the main body in October 1914.… ***
*** The 1915 Diary of James Temple Fisher plus numerous postcards, photos and prints. James (b. 1890) arrived in Nz from Queensland in 1894. He served in Gallipoli and France until he was wounded by a gas bomb. He was returned to the Uk where he underwent skin grafts and convalesced for about eight months. While convalescing he studied journalism and was awarded a Diploma from London University. He joined the Nz Railways upon his return where he worked until retiring in 1949. ***
*** A Rare World War II Collection of Diaries & Documents relating to a New Zealand World War II gunner serving with the 8th Army in North Africa, 24693 Gnr M. E. Obery 6th Field Regt, Rnza. Consisting of four diaries commencing during training in New Zealand and following his service through North Africa and the battle at El Almein. The diaries continue through North Africa and conclude as Obery is evacuated to New Zealand.… ***
*** Two exceedingly important photographs showing men of the 1st Contingent to the Boer war, including Callaway, the first Maori to ever serve overseas, the first image shows four men of the 1st New Zealand Contingent who were also Coromandel Rifle Volunteers members, they are named verso and were all noted soldiers of the Boer war. 1st subject - Leonard M. Tarrant, a miner, a Private in the 1st Contingent to the Boer war.… ***
*** WWI Diary of Magnus Burns Clarke, 23rd Reinfs. who was a porter and embarked New Zealand in April 1917. The SS Corinthic went via America and arrived at Cape Town 2 May 1917, finally docking in England 10 June 1917. Although of Scottish descent, Clarke was in NZ at the time of the war. This 1918 diary details the service of Clarke as a member of the Canterbury Infantry Battalion in France.… ***
*** The Rare & Important Diaries of Harold Young, of the 40th Reinforcements. The troopship ‘Tahiti’ on which the Reinforcements travelled was known as the 'Ship of Death'. The Tahiti was the source of the first influenza (flu) virus exposure on New Zealanders. The Tahiti was exposed to the virus when the ship stopped at Sierra Leone. Between there and the trip to England many members of the NZ Forces aboard died from the disease. Some committed suicide by throwing themselves overboard.… ***
*** Two World War II Middle East Campaign Diaries owned by F.W. Benfell. Benfell served as a Lance Sergeant with the New Zealand Engineers in North Africa. His diaries, covering 1941-1942, give details of his service in North Africa. It is unsure whether he survived the war as a F.W. Benfell of Dunedin was killed serving with the New Zealand forces (Signals) in Tunisia in 1943. These diaries were located in Dunedin so it is very possible that Benfell transferred from the Engineers to the Signals.… ***
*** A Very Rare and Important Wwii Nz Killed in Action Officer's Diary. This is the diary of Captain Robert Blair Symon of the 6th Field Regt. Nz Artillery. It commences 2 April 1941 in Ngaruawahia, Nz and follows Symon overseas to North Africa where he campaigned with the Nz Field Artillery. Symon was a well known observer officer and is well mentioned in the official history of the Nz Artillery in Wwii by W.E.… ***
*** A Wwi Photograph Album of H.P. Stewart presumed to be Harry Parkes Stewart (11/2653 Cpl. Wellington Mounted Rifles). Notably this album contains an exceptional assortment of important images of Nz soldiers in the trenches at Armentieres. Other images show Egypt, Suez and shipboard life. An interesting original album of over 100 images. ***
*** Unique Autograph Book of a Nz Guard at Featherston Prisoner of War Camp during WW2. This Pow camp was for captured Japanese soldiers. It had been established during Wwi as the largest military training camp in Nz. At the request of the Usa, in September 1942 it was re-established as a Pow Camp. About 800 prisoners from the Battle of Guadalcanal were housed there. The camp's most famous event was on 25 February 1943 during a sit in by 240 prisoners who refused to work.… ***
*** Complete Nz WW2 Period Photograph Collection of images and documents related to Des McGovern of the 27th Nz Machine Gun Battalion. He embarked Nz as a Private with the 4th Reinforcements in 1940. His service took him to North Africa and Italy as documented by his hundreds of photographs. He was commissioned during his service and returned to Nz in 1945 as a 2nd Lieutenant. The 27th Nz Mg Ban. was one of the most elite Nz Regiments during WW2.… ***
