A superb fern album by Anton Seuffert. A large proportion of Seuffert works have some form of fern or plant imagery. In this vein, fern album books were manufactured containing pressed ferns mounted on pages inside front and back covers of detailed inlay. The front covers always feature a fern in the central design and the back cover, a geometric series of patterns. It would appear that Anton Seuffert worked closely with Thomas Cranwell in the production of these albums. This example has Cranwell's label…

Arts & Crafts period card table by William Seuffert, (1858-1943). This table is a unique piece and appears to be one of William Seuffert's later creations. It incorporates patterns used in earlier work by both William and his father, Anton, the simplification of the overall table design and squaring of the circular edging indicate a conscious development towards the modernisation of the table genre. A magnificent fern box by Anton Seuffert, (1815-1887). This Anton Seuffert fern box is one of only seven known examples of this genre from the workshop of New Zealand's premier cabinetmaker. Fern boxes were made to store pressed native fern specimens mounted inside paper folders, the Victorian English were keen collectors of flora and fauna from the lands of the New World. From New Zealand, specimen collections were frequently purchased by returning troops or gifted to visiting dignitaries as a memento of…

An elegant William Seuffert domed glove box incorporating a range of patterns used on other Seuffert pieces but never previously seen in this format. William Seuffert specialized in making small decorative boxes of approximately the same size but widely varying in marquetry design, the original condition and strong colour retention of this box makes it a valuable addition to the Seuffert catalogue of works. As the name implies, glove boxes were made to store small clothing items or possibly valuable…
