Description:
Henry Pierce Bone, R.A. (1755-1834, British), 'Portrait of Sir Martin Frobisher', an enamelled copper plaque. Frobisher 1576 undertook the discovery of the North-West Passage. He sailed against the Spanish Armada. (see inscribed details to reverse). Henry Bone was enamel painter 'in ordinary' to His Majesty George III and enamel painter to HRH the Prince Regent. This work painted after the original portrait at Dulwich College. Ornate gilt frame with blue velvet slip. Small chip lower left corner. 18.5 cm x 15 cm
