Description:
Very rare King George 111 10th regiment of foot officers sabre/sword. Officer's sword of the 10th Cavalry Regiment. (Silver 'X' on each side of fishskin grip). Plain steel slightly curved blade. Complete with it's steel scabbard, approx 90 cm overall. By Prosser of London, it is not marked in his name but has his unique and distinctive form of hilt he used on infantry and regimental swords.The grip has the silver X regimental device as appearing on the regimental colours. It was named the 10th regiment in 1751 before which regiments used their Colonels name for identification. Here are some of the campaigns in which the regiment saw action1759-1760 repelling Thurot at Carrickfergus during the 7 years war.The American Revolution- Lexington Concord Bunker Hill New York Germantown Monmouth Rhode Island. Napoleonic Wars Egypt Portugal Spain. In 1781 the regiment returned to England after 19 years of service overseas. This sword is directly connected to a British Regiment with a long and distinguished history
