A Royal Australian Navy apprentice, ships 1/2 block model with plan. This example is a 1/2 block scale model of 27ft naval Whaler Hull constructed from pine with a cedar back board mount. The plans were drafted by F. J. Simmonds in 1961 at the R.A.N.A.T.E. (Royal Australian naval Apprenticeship Training Establishment) and carries the Navy's ship building office seal mark.
