9ct yellow gold mother of pearl buckle brooch c.1890. Length 63 mm. Verso rose gold fittings stamped 9ct. Note: a similar mother of pearl carving is illustrated on page 32, Gold and Silversmithing in Western Australia by Dr. Dorothy Erickson the buckle illustrated on p.32 was made between 1870-80 for William Hall, pastoralist, pearler and explorer of Cossack. This is in the collection of the W.A. Museum
