A Chinese elm late Qing Dynasty cupboard. A highly decorative black lacquered elm wood and gilt painted cabinet. Fujian Province, late Qing Dynasty, circa 1870. Rectangular form with moulded cornice above a pair black lacquer doors with raised gilt foliate vase and sprays, below pair of drawers and a further pair of doors with conforming decoration on square legs. 197 cm high, 99 cm wide, 60 cm deep.
