Japanese Nabeshima type footed bowl made for the Prince of Hizen, Edo period (1603-1868), with Kakiemon style underglaze blue and enamel decoration, the base with underglaze blue mon (family crest) of the Prince of Hizen. Diameter 24.5 cm. It is said that items baring this mon were made for the personal use of the Prince himself and would have been made in the Imperial Garden of the Prince. The Prince was a member of the honoured Nabeshima family.
