A Rare Australian Games Table, By Captain Henry Bayles Ford, Circa 1860 the circular top inlaid with various woods including blackwood, musk and cedar, centered with an inlaid chess board with a band of pale Australian wood to the border, supported on a gun barrel stem on three generous legs details available from family documents here at the Melbourne office Captain Henry Ford was the Otway lighthouse keeper from 1848-78, he had a workshop at the light house and he was highly regarded for his craftsmanship and commissioned by the local gentry to make furniture. This piece was bequeathed to his daughter Jane and then by descent to the present family member 73 cm diameter, 72 cm high
