An Australian cedar and specimen wood games tables labelled R.T. Carter, circa 1870, labelled R.T. Carter, circa 1870 the circular tilt top with a central specimen timber chess board and border made from native Australian timbers including, cedar, musk, casuarina, cypress pine, eucalypt, silky oak, beefwood or banksia and coachwood, supported on a tapering barley-twist column on a circular platform base with acanthus leaf and empty shield carved collar, raised on three carved feet, with paper label to the underside of top, 'From/ R.T. Carter,/Formerly of Jno. Hill & Co./Cabinet,/Upholstery,/Bedstead and Bedding/Warehouse,/Sydney./ No 404 George Street, five doors north of King**', 66 cm in diameter, 73 cm high.
