An unusual pair of Canton enamel vases and covers, late Qing Dynasty each of baluster form, the sides painted in 'Famille-rose' palette with pairs of different species of birds, including peacocks, pheasant, cranes, ducks and song birds in flight and perched around a lotus pool, with flowering peony, iris and lotus growing on the rocky bank beneath an overhanging tree, all in reserve on the bright yellow ground, the domed cover with further birds in flight, the white base with blue dragon roundel (4) 34 cm
