An, early 19th century scrimshaw powder horn dated May 3, 1836, the neck carved and inscribed 'Jjb', the body profusely decorated with oval panels depicting docked ships, courting couples, officers, a hunting scene, animals and sea creatures, all surrounded with text describing, the scenes and the boredom from which this piece was created, If any one should ask for why or who done this tell them it's J Hiat done it for to pass, the time, to drive worse things out of my mind, 58 cm long
