An ivory okimono of a basket seller, Meiji period, standing in his waraji, turned to the side and carrying a bamboo pole over his right shoulder suspended at the front and back with numerous baskets, drums and other wares of various shapes and sizes hanging from ropes, details inlaid in red lacquer and mother of pearl, and with further wares suspended from ropes held in his lowered left hand, his face with well defined features and his clothes incised with patterns picked out in black, signed in a rectangular lacquer reserve Toshimasa, wood stand (2) 35 cm
