Description:
A large 'Longquan' celadon jar, Guan, Yuan/Ming Dynasty, stoutly potted of compressed baluster form with wide mouth, the sides carved with four lozenge-diaper ground barbed panels enclosing the characters Fu, Lu, Shou (good Fortune, Prosperity and Longevity), interspersed with sprays of fruiting peach and flowering chrysanthemum, lotus and peony, between a band of upright petals rising from the foot and a border of foliate scrolls below the upright mouth, applied overall with an unctuous sea-green glaze, falling short of the broad bevelled foot and the mouth rim, and with an unglazed ring on the base of the interior, all burnt orange in the firing, wood stand and cover (3) 26.
