A French 18th century transitional ormolu-mounted tulipwood, satine and parquetry secretaire a abattant, by Louis-Noel Malle, Paris,the shaped stepped marble top above a frieze drawer with foliate handles and escutcheon, the drop-front inlaid with a star, the reverse inset with a gilt-tooled green leather writing surface, the interior fitted with four drawers and four pigeon-holes, above a pair of cupboard doors, each inlaid with a similar star, the interior with a shelf and two compartments, the canted angles with spreading panelled sides, on short cabriole legs and scrolling acanthus cast sabots, the back stamped with Jme mark and L.Malle. Width 82 cm. Depth 36 cm. Height 135.5 cm .
