Bedford'; it was possibly commissioned to mark the sitter's election to Parliament as Member for Bedfordshire in 1713. The work is in the manner of Sir Godfrey Kneller, and is possibly from the artist's immediate circle; a portrait of John Harvey's Son and namesake by Kneller's pupil and protege John Vanderbank is held in the British Government Art Collection
