'A Farewell Toast To Departed Comrades, Ulm And Smithy' original pen and ink artwork by Frank Dunne. Depicts Charles Ulm and Charles Kingsford Smith in flying gear, surrounded by a wreath and being toasted at a formal dinner 33 x 52 cm framed and glazed; signed and endorsed 'To Smithy's best cobber, Bill Beausang' at lower right. Frank Dunne [c1897-1937] was very active as a magazine and newspaper illustrator. His oil painting of Kingsford Smith is in the National Library of Australia collection. Dunne painted this image for Liam 'Bill' Beausang, who had worked as an engineer for Kingsford Smith. Beausang went on to work for the Abc for more than 30 years
