Description:
1969 Vespa VBCThe Vespa, (Italian for wasp) is built by the Piaggio Company. Piaggio was a large manufacturer of ships, trains, aeroplanes and helicopters in Liguria in Italy, the first Vespa was patented in 1946 and is still in production today. Designed by Corradino D'Ascanio, the new two-wheeled vehicle was simple, cheap, utilitarian, unisex, maneuverable, comfortable, clean and safe. As the designer himself said, 'The creation of a modern means of transport with the popularity of a bicycle, the performance of a motorbike, the elegance and comfort of an automobile, is now reality.’, the Vespa is perhaps the ultimate symbol of Italian post-war revival and freedom and a 1950s and 60s icon. Inventive and creative, it is an embodiment of Italian style for which the Company is known the world over. Both of these Vespas have had complete nut and bolt re-builds and having undergone exacting restorations have been used for display purposes by the current owner in his furniture store. We are informed that both vehicles are in full working order and run and perform as they should.
