A Rare Japanese Meiji Period Sage Jubako (Picnic Set) Comprising a Four Tier Quatrefoil Stacking Food Box Set Shaped shallow tray with three rctangular tray plates and a large sake flask. All this is contained within a finely decorated carrying frame with brass handle. Various techniques of gold nashiji, hira maki-e and relief lacquer clam shells decoration and landscape patterns with birds and nets. The Box lid finely decorated with a Minogame (mythical Turtle of 1000 Years). Some minor lacquer faults. 30 cm x 33 cm
