A large and elaborate ivory group of Daikoku by Korakusai, Meiji period 27 cm the God of wealth standing above three rice bales supported on a base encircled with rats at the top of a high rocky crag, emptying the sack held over his shoulders to the numerous smaller figures below, some men clamber up the rocky ledges, whilst others ascend a ladder and several including women and children gather up their pickings in their bags and baskets at the base, the details finely incised and inlaid in mother-of-pearl, horn and other coloured materials, signed on a red lacquer tablet on the wood base, Korakusai
