Frederick Bailey Deeming (1853-1892) Serial Killer Hanged. Pencil sketch by George Rossi Ashton (1857–1942) depicting English serial killer, Deeming on the scaffold at old Melbourne Gaol. The drawing served as a preliminary study for the illustration of the hanging published in the Bulletin, Vol. 12, no. 641, 28 May 1892 (45×29.5 cm). Together with a carte de visite photograph of Deeming wearing a long coat and top hat, with a handwritten brief account of his life and crimes verso (15×7 cm). Provenance: collection late Kenneth F.
