Description:
A Royal Worcester porcelain matched part tea service, Mid-1870-mid-1880s, the decoration attributed to Josiah Rushton and David Bates, a tea pot, cream jug, small cup, and two small plates or dishes, all of delicate proportions, the vessels each standing on three gilt paw feet, all white ground with jewelled borders throughout, the pot decorated each side with a gilt-framed portrait of a young woman surrounded by garlands and swags of flowers, the other pieces conformingly decorated, each with one portrait, one of the plates signed by Rushton with conjoined initials underside, all but the cup with printed factory marks underside, mostly rubbed and with date codes lost but the unsigned plate dated 1885, the teapot 14 cm high, the plates 14 cm diameter. Condition: hairline to rim of teapot, gilt wear, minor crazing to one panel, small chip to lion-paw one foot, gilt beading losses and general wear
