18th century Tibetan Monastery trunk, in wood, yak leather and leopard skin, of deep rectangular form, the top set with embroidered silk panel, the body set with three panels of leopard skin surrounded by yak leather, accented with brass strap work, 54 cm x 94 cm note: the Tibetan Monastery trunk was used to protect Buddhists religious artifacts. Silk prayer panels are set to the top and leopard skin was seen as bravery and protectors from the evil spirits.
