Description:
Mennecy porcelain tureen and Underplate, c. 1750-60, of quatrefoil shape, the cover with apple finial (restored), painted with garden flowers including roses and tulips, incised 'D V' to the undersides for the Duc de Villeroy, height 8 cm width 14.5 cm depth 12.5 cm; width 21.5 cm (stand). Provenance: Darblay collection, Robert Mcpherson Antiques, London, private collection, Qld, reference: this important collection of Mennecy porcelain was formed in the 19th century by the Darblay family, especially Ayme-Henri Darblay (1854-1899). He published the reference book, Villeroy, Son Passe, SA Fabrique de Porcelaine et Son Etat Actuel, in 1901
