Pair of Chinese Qing Dynasty 8th rank civil badges c.1880, of square form with central quail insignia applied separately, surrounded by stylised clouds and geometric motifs and border, in gold and silver thread, with blue silk lining, 20.5 cm x 22 cm. Provenance: collection of Judith Rutherford. Other Notes: These are the rarest of all civil rank badges and are not well represented in Museum collections.
