An early 20th century Japanese black lacquer cypress house shrine, entirely hand-made, the bi-fold doors with fancy brass hinges and lock opening to reveal a further gilded set of bi-fold doors with fine mesh and carved and pierced panels, drawers below. The interior with columns, tiers and compartments for sacred objects, some included. Note: These Japanese Buddhist house shrines are an exact reproduction of a full-size Buddhist temple. This is a fine example of the highest level of craftsmanship, incorporating the gilt 'Maki-e' gold powder application, gold leaf and natural pigmented lacquer finishing. These Shrines can cost more than the house. Height 171 cm Width 750 mm Depth 620 mm. In five sections on small Iron wheels.
