A Japanese marine chronometer, V-279, circa 1945, silvered Roman numeral dial, gilded hands, up/down indicator, and seconds bit, inscribed with Japanese script, chain fusee movement, maintaining power, two-arm bimetallic balance, spring detent, helical hairspring, jeweled escape and balance, mounted in a brass gimbaled bowl and housed in a three-tier brass-bound oak box with carrying handles and a silvered plate marked V-279 the case, 19 cm high, 18.5 cm wide, 18.5 cm deep
