Description:
A William IV rosewood teapoy signed 'John Barrow Nov. 13th 1841', possibly for Gillows of Lancaster. Sarcophagus form raised on a turned tulip column issuing from a gadrooned ring from a quatrefoil base raised on conforming gadrooned bun feet concealing brass castors. The hinged lid revealing two lidded canisters flanking cavities for mixing bowls (the one remaining AF). Note: John Barrow was the son of W.J Barrow, the Liverpool cabinetmaker whose name appears in the Gillow records between 1800-1840. John Barrow was apprenticed to Leonard Redmayne in 1826 and appears in the Gillow records between 1834 and 1848.
