Description:
An unusual flambe-glazed octagonal bowl Qing Dynasty, 18th century, stoutly potted with rounded sides springing from a splayed foot and flared towards the rim, covered inside and out with a rich crimson glaze streaked in cream and lavender blue thinning to white around the lipped rim, 22.5 cm diameter. Provenance: J.H. Burden, Sydney (label attached), John Kenny collection, Melbourne. Private collection, Melbourne, acquired from the above. Exhibited: the ceramic Society of Australia, Chinese exhibition, 1951, catalogue no. 48 (label attached)
