George II Irish sterling silver cake basket, mark of Robert Calderwood, Dublin, c. 1740 of oval shape, sides pierced with foliage and latticework, further embellished with chased wheat sheaves, below a shaped rim heightened with Chinese figures, inside later engraved with a coat-of-arms, with an overhead swing handle, raised on four feet surmounted by Chinese figures, hallmarked, the base engraved with scratch weight '41=5?, weight 1275 grams height 27 cm length 35.5 cm
