Chinese Cultural Revolution textile, in the form of a rank badge relating to the great Leap forward (1966), depicting a large red sun, dominant central dragon and flaming pearl, in tones of brown, blue, red, white and yellow, accented in gold thread on black silk, woven at the cloud brocade Institute in Beijing catalogue note: the dragon, even through it was a significant symbol of the Imperial system was used as the dominate figure along with the large red sun, representing Chairman Mao.
