An unusual hardwood portable chest, of rectangular form and square section, the hinged cover with metal corner mounts lifting to reveal the open interior, the front with a square metal lock plate and ruyi -shaped clasp and lock, the upper part of the sides and the top carved to simulate folded cloth drawn into a gilt knot in the centre, either side set with a metal angular scroll handle, the base on corner bracket feet, 30 cm high, 25.5 wide, 25.5 deep
