A set of four carved and gilt-decorated black lacquer panels, 20th century, each of rectangular form, carved in deep relief on the black lacquer ground with Birds and Flowers of the Four Seasons, one with two pairs of birds on a blossoming prunus tree beside peonies, another with a pair of cranes and birds beside a gnarled pine tree entwined with wysteria, another with crested birds among flowering roses and lilies, and another with long-tailed birds beside a flowering magnolia tree, begonia and ornamental rockwork, the decoration picked out in gilding, all within a painted black lacquer border and frame, (4), 97 x 51 cm (each)
