Description:
1964 'Clement' Austin Seven Special. This Australian historic racing car was built by John Clement in 1963. It was competitively raced in South Australia from 1963 to 1966 by John Clement mostly at Mallala Motorsport Park and Collingrove Hillclimb track in the Barossa Valley. Throughout the 1960's the car appeared in different body configurations including having a standard Renault 750cc powerhouse. From 1978 to 2002 the car went through several owners before being purchased by Jeff Redin who undertook an extensive restoration from 2011-2016. Jeff put the car back to its prettiest 1964 body configuration, being aluminium skinned tubular steel frame on Austin Seven chassis rails, presented now in red livery. The four-cylinder Austin Seven engine is understood to be fitted with Renault conrods, Phoenix crankshaft and a Roots type supercharger with a single SU carburettor. This cute little historic open-wheeler racing car offers a new custodian the opportunity for affordable historic racing. CAMS logbook should be easily obtained as the sale includes copies of period photographs over its 50 plus years and provenance paperwork.
