Description:
A fully functioning replica Roman chariot from the film, Gladiator (2000), the bowed body overlaid in tan hide and mounted with Classical style appliques rendered in composite material, beneath leather bound scroll handles, mounted on a steel chassis and eight-spoke wooden wheels with steel rims, together with a tubular tow-shaft of conforming decoration. chariot 136 cm high, 206 cm wide, 210 cm long, tow shaft 281.5 cm long. Accompanied by a letter from Russell Crowe stating his ownership. Provenance: Mr Steve Dent, United Kingdom. Mr Russell Crowe, Sydney, acquired from the above circa 2009. According to Steve Dent, horse master for Gladiator (2000), 'the chariots were made by Neil Corbould from the Sfx department from the film, Gladiator. They were copied from two I bought from Rome off a guy who worked on Ben Hur, the original film.
