Although Fitzroy finished the season in 7th position, the photograph includes their Brownlow medallist for 1935, Haydn Bunton, Snr. 1939 V.F.A. Premiership Medal in 9ct gold, awarded to W. Spokes of the Williamstown Football Club. The premiership was won by Williamstown, coming from fourth on the ladder to defeat Brunswick by nine points in the Grand Final on 7 October in front of 47,000 followers. It was the club's third Vfa premiership, and it was a strong revival after having 'won' the wooden spoon in 1938. After his career with Williamstown, Spokes went on to play for Fitzroy in 1943-44.

1974 Grand Final Eve Poster: Undated 'Alf's Tip' original Weg prediction poster (published 27 September 1974) depicting a rampant Richmond Tiger sitting atop a bruised and battered North Melbourne Kangaroo.
