Pristine Navajo blanket densely woven woollen blanket with traditional Navajo geometric patterning in red, blue, black and white. Owned by Frances Gillmor, novelist, folklorist and anthropologist whose studies were mainly focused in Mexico and the American Southwest. Gillmor Co-wrote the book -'Traders to the Navajos - the Wetherills of Kayenta', 1934., a copy of this book is included in the lot. Indonesian Batak bullet holders two superb 'Bullet holders' of the Batak, central Sumatra. These elongated containers with slightly flexible, 'Forked tongues' were used to store self-cast lead bullets for the early muzzleloader guns of the Batak, each bearing a face on the wide, upper front. The larger holder has a wooden lid, also carved with typical Batak relief. This 'Bullet holder' still has one lead bullet inside, with good patina. Indonesia. Length 18.5 cm. Width 5 cm.
