A late Victorian sterling silver backed hand mirror. 1897 London, with maker's mark for Mappin & Webb (John Newton Mappin), the oval mirror with a bevelled glass, having a hollow shaped handle with an overlapping fluted design with scrolling foliage to the throat, a radiating spiral design to the back centred with a foliate and vacant cartouche in the rocaille manner, hallmarked to back. Total weight 357gr. Length 28 cm
