Dr. Francis Russell Nixon, Australia, (1803-1879) cape Contrariety titled, inscribed 'Cape Delasco’ and Sept. 3 1852 pencil, pen and brown ink and watercolour unframed, mounted 10 x 12 cm. Provenance: Hartley fine Art, Nov 1988 Represented Mitchell library, Sydney and Tasmanian Museum and Art gallery. Francis Nixon taught at the Sydney Mechanics school of Art, and later became the first church of England Bishop of van Diemen’s Land.
