Rare 18th century.Maori treasure box, (Papahou). This stone carved treasure box has a flat rectangular form instead of the wakahuia canoe shaped form. This box would have held personal objects such as combs and greenstone pendants of a high ranking person a similar box is in the British Museum, no. 241, plate 67, 'Taonga Maori in the British Museum'. Height 12 cm, length 33 cm
