Description:
1986 Ferrari Testarossa Coachwork by PininfarinaRegistration no. Ftr-086 (NSW) Expires 08/04/11Chassis no. ZFFTA17C000062307Engine no. F113A00485, A sports car with race breeding which worthily continued the illustrious name of the great 1950's sports racing Testa Rossa (literally 'red head' in Italian), Ferrari's fabulously quick 1980's road car was de signed to rival Lamborghini's Countach for presence and performance. The flagship for the Maranello company in the 1980s, the Testarossa was debuted at the 1984 Paris Salon, entering full production later that year. With its instantly recognisable gill slats leading air to its side-mounted radiators, the Pininfarina-de signed Testarossa succeeded brilliantly. Dimensionally larger than its 512 Bb predecessor, the Testarossa combined high downforce with a low coefficient of drag, the resulting handling enabling the 'boxer' 5-litre flat-12 engine with its 390bhp to be used to its maximum effect. With four-valve heads, Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection and Magnetti Marelli Microplex ignition, the Testarossa's flat-12 was both more powerful and easier to live. With a top speed of 290km/h, only the likes of Porsche's 959 and Ferrari's own F40 could show it a clean pair of heels. Although race-bred, cabin luxuries included air conditioning, electrically-adjustable seats, tilting steering wheel and luxurious leather appointments. Demand for this supercar ensured a permanent waiting list and significant premiums over list price were regularly sought and achieved for new models. Indicitive of the Testarossa's appear, the model outsold the old Bb by a ratio of five to one, with almost 5,700 made before the revamped 512TR appeared in 1992. This Australian delivery Testarossa is finished in the traditional Rosso Corsa with contrasting beige upholstery and comes with full books. The car was sold new through dealer Ron Hodgson to Efk Investments Pty Ltd. of Brisbane, Queensland in 1986. With just under 100,000 kilometers on the clock, this flagship Ferrari has been used sparingly over the last ten years. Currently registered in New South Wales as 'Ftr-086' until April 8, 2011, the Ferrari is to be sold with a pink slip (if sold in NSW).
