The interior divided and fitted with compartments, shelves and variously sized drawers, a central shrine compartment with pierced sliding screens, and simulated bamboo galleries.… ***
*** A pair of rare Imperial Chinese Qianlong mark and period famille rose porcelain wine cups, polychrome enamelled with bats and Buddhist flowers on plum ground, turquoise interiors, gold to the top rims (minor wear and very minor glaze flaws), 18th century. Diameter 60. ***
*** An old Chinese mallet bodied bottle vase with peach bloom glaze with soft green flecked highlights, Kangxi marks to base in under glaze blue. Height 22.8 cm ***
*** A Chinese Hotan (Hetian) large jade bowl, hand carved with a pair of Imperial dragons opposed either side of a mystic pearl, detailed in gilt, the exterior with a sinuous Imperial dragon opposed to a ho-oh (phoenix) to either side of a mystic pearl and with four lines of calligraphic inscription. Gilt detail, raised on short cylindrical foot, pale/mid-green colourway with pale cloud form inclusions typical of the Hotan jade type. Diameter 27 cm height 97. Certificate available. ***
*** A Japanese silver tea and coffee service with tray, with Art Nouveau influenced decoration of irises, the flowers decorating each piece in high relief on a hammer finished ground. The set comprises a spirit kettle with a burner, coffee pot, teapot, lidded and open sugar basins and a milk jug. The oblong tray with canted corners and everted rim with decoration conforming to the teaset. Each piece marked underneath with a two character mark and seal. Weight 8130gms ***
*** A good Chinese Huang Huali wood tray table of oblong shape with a simple cavetto border, the centre inlaid in silver with an extensive landscape with figures and buildings, the corners overlaid with silver mounts heavily chased and engraved with sinuous dragons, two handles issue from either end, each decorated with cloud motifs, one with maker’s mark L.H. for Luen Hing. An applied plaque to the tray with presentation inscription ‘To Mr J.… ***
*** A large impressive ornate Japanese Meiji period hardwood cabinet on stand with small cupboards and open shelves, carved and pierced floral decoration and richly gilded borders. The lacquer panels beautifully decorated and richly gilded and embellished with Tokyo School ivory carvings, abalone, motherof- pearl etc. The low base with ornate carved and pierced decoration, the pediment with scrolling ends. *** A rare pair of Chinese hardwood display cabinets each with a pair of small cupboards (one with sliding doors, the other with hinged doors) and five open shelves, the panels of the cupboard doors with bone and carved wood decoration of flowering branches, baskets of flowers and loquats, the shelves with beautifully carved and pierced galleries and turned “bamboo” column supports. *** An old Japanese finely carved ivory tusk section of long rectangular natural curved form, deep relief detail of mountainous village landscape with multiple figures, elephant, buildings, bridge and trees. 28.7 x 7.8 cm ***
*** A rare peach-bloom glazed porcelain ‘willow-leaf’ vase (LiuyeZun), marked inside the deep foot ring with a blue six character Qing Dynasty, Kangxi mark and probably of the period (1664-1722), of slender, high-shouldered form with a tall neck and flaring mouth, tapering to an unglazed foot, the foot ring deeply sunk into the body, the glaze of speckled red suffused with pale yellow-green, at the mouth.… ***
*** A good large Chinese rosewood carving of the goddess Kuan Yin. She stands holding a chrysanthemum blossom in her right hand, in her left hand she holds a censor and a gourd hangs from a ribbon at her waist. Chrysanthemums decorate her coiffure. Height 117 cm ***
*** A large Chinese polychrome enamel vase of early Republic period, ovoid form with two sculptured pronounced bat form handles, glazed red with gilt highlights, the body with four shaped panels decorated with a partridge, locusts, cricket, exotic birds and blossoms, signed, the ground of finely scrolling florals, lanterns etc., character mark to base. Height 36 cm. ***
*** A rare pair of Chinese red cinnabar plant stands of traditional form with shaped square plinth tops and tall elegant cabriole legs, profuse intricate decoration of dragons chasing flaming pearls, flowers, scrolls and Greek Key patterns. The top 30 cm x 30 cm, height 98 cm ***
*** A Regency period Chinoiserie pedestal standing work box, traditional all-over gilded decoration on rich dark red/ brown/black ground of Chinese figures in landscape with buildings, boats, walkways, trees, etc., the octagonal box with a hinged lid enclosing fitted interior with some ivory implements housed in various compartments above the pleated fabric well, all on arched support to the their turned column and three-way base with lions paw feet.
