*** James Purdey 16 bore muzzle loading black powder shotgun, serial no. 2386, London proved Damascus barrels stamped J.P. with platinum plugs and line at breech. The barrels have been struck up ready for rebrowning with loss of address on the rib. The barrels are slightly etched but would rebrown with further striking up. Ramrod lacking. The typical early percussion locks have a scarce and early external form of safety catch which is original to the gun.… ***
*** Colonel Marmaduke Nixon's personnel powder horn, scrimshaw work to the buffalo horn of two women in typical Victorian dress, one on horseback, the tip as the lid with wooden fitting, the wide end with inset pinned kauri plug. Length 36.5 cm. Note Marmaduke George Nixon born 1813/1814 graduated from the Royal Military College, Sandhurst, immigrated to New Zealand in 1852 soon becoming an advocate for the South Auckland Landholders for access to Maori 'waste land' in the Waikato and Thames regions.… ***
*** The F.H.Hargrave medal group, includes WWI pr, India medal with Afghanistan N.W.F. bar, 1939 - 1945 Star, The Africa Star, The Italy Star, The Defence Medal, 1939 -1945 service medal, Malaya Gsm with Malaya bar and flying medal, the set with nine miniatures and with Hargraves silver and enamel flying wings in box, all in later mahogany framed case. ***

*** A Japanese wakazashi (short sword) of middle to late Edo period with fuchi-kashira showing a kabuto, the tsuba with silver flowers in relief, the blade with visible temper line, black lacquered scabbard. Length 57.5 cm ***
