Framed Japanese Woodblock Print, Sakai Hoitsu, 1761-1828. The son of the Lord of Himeji Castle and studied various styles under famous masters because of his lifestyle, he became a monk in 1797 and spent 21 years in seclusion where he particularly studied Ogata Korin. He was the principal driving force responsible for the rinpa revival in the early 19th century His contribution to the art is considered major by scholars and his original prints are quite rare. 33.5 x 14 cm.
