A very rare and important pre-European stone carved Maori stone God sinker (mahe) or Ballast stone with carved double tiki figures. Pre-European 17th/18th century of exceptional quality and superior to those in the British Museum. Some sinkers that are carved had a ceremonial function, they would have sat within the canoe to bring good luck for fishing.
