For several years Anne Harbers has opened her splendid Edwardian mansion in Warrawee, on Sydney’s North Shore for a silver study day.

A small group of around 15 to 18 participants enjoys a fascinating day with a varied menu of topics mixed with regular features. This year the study day will be held on Thursday 16th September, from 9.30 am to 4.15 pm.

Study Day presenter and silver consultant, Jolyon Warwick James, will talk on “Hidden Treasures”, covering less well publicised and known collections of silver in Australian museums and galleries.

This time it will be the silver in the fascinating Johnston collection in Melbourne. He will also chair an open discussion on silver asking how far one should go restoring and repairing. This leads onto practical home advice on cleaning, preserving (and enjoying) silver.

Guest lecturer, and founder of the Silver Society of Australia, Brian Eggleton, gives an insight into aspects of Australian history as seen through items of silver which he will bring along.

Host Anne Harbers tackles Klein Zilver, the Dutch love of their miniature figurines and household items. Amongst other things she reveals what you can do with a “snuifdozen”!

There is the usual identification and discussion session of items brought along by participants. Lunch and Tea will be served on the veranda and provide excellent opportunities to exchange ideas and views. Each participant will recieve a folder with material relating to the days proceedings and other useful silver information.
